Area Resources

There are so many things you can do while at the Summit Springs Inn......

  • Tour the Adams County Winery, a small farm winery located in Adams County, just eight miles west of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Nestled against the South Mountains, they have an ideal climate for growing grapes that, in turn, make our quality wines. Visit them and enjoy sampling in their tasting room. Take a tour of the winery, located in a 19th century Pennsylvania bank barn. Visit their gift shop, where you'll find their award-winning wines and wine-related products for sale.

  • Hike the Appalachian Trail easily accessible off Route 16, Pen Mar, or High Rock. You may be lucky enough to catch hang gliders jumping from a 1500 foot cliff at High Rock!

  • Enjoy a number of trails that will lead you to a 70 foot waterfall at Cunningham Falls in the heart of Catoctin National Park. You can also swim and canoe here at the park!

  • History buffs can explore the town of Gettysburg and the Civil War Battlefield via walking, hiking, biking, horseback riding, or horse drawn carriage. Antietam Battlefield is also just a 30-minute drive away.

  • Discover some of the country's best antique stores and flea markets.

  • Local wineries offer tours, seasonal festivals and tasting parties.

  • Liberty Mountain Resort offers skiing in the winter and golfing in the summer. Our local golf course, Monterey, is one of the country's oldest courses where President Eisenhower played on summer days.

  • Boyd's Bear Country, Gettysburg, is the World's Largest Teddy Bear Store where more than 80,000 teddy bears are waiting to be adopted.

  • Hershey Park, located in Chocolate Town, U.S.A, is just 90 minutes north of Summit Springs Inn. This is a must-see for any chocolate lover.

  • Step back in time while visiting Amish country, Lancaster, just a 2 hour drive north east of Blue Ridge Summit.

  • Enjoy professional theatrical productions at Totem Pole Playhouse, located in the heart of the Caledonia State Park.

  • At the base of our mountain is Emmittsburg, home of the world famous Grotto of the Lourdes. The Grotto is a shrine to Saint Elizabeth Seton who taught and healed disadvantaged children in the hillside gardens. The outdoor chapels and walkways offer colorful displays of seasonal blooming flowers. Many miracles are said to have taken place on these holy grounds. Mother Teresa visited the Grotto just nine months before her own death.
